“Can You Guess?” – Week Eight

Well folks, it’s not going to be an easy week. While we may know one or two names, the others are truly a mystery. At best guess, these photos were taken in the early 1950s.

1. Three girls in a field.

2. Girl on a swing.

3. Three girls on the beach.

4. Three girls on the lawn of an old homestead.

Good luck.

“Can You Guess?” – Week One

Tancook Community News is excited to announce a weekly “Can You Guess” contest. We are delighted to have received a collection of never-before-seen photos from our beloved annual island visitor and renowned photo-journalist, George Bellerose.  Each week we will post one photo with a challenge. Thanks to Rosa for the questions.

Here is the photo for the week of Oct 2, 2017:

Many of you will remember this man but who can name the boat?
Answer: “Sweet Nothing”

Can you guess?

This photo (taken by George Bellerose in 1973) depicts early  mackerel trapping  technology. Mackerel is unloaded,  dip net by dip net into a barrel that is hauled from boat to fish boxes on the wharf. Boxes were then brought into the Granville Gates plant in Blandford for processing.
Allan Cross on the left…who is on the right?

Can You Guess Who This Tancooker Is?

Over the past 40 years, George Bellerose has spent time on Tancook every summer, chronicling life on this special island through the art of photography.

George will be supplying photos from the early days of his visit and we will post one now and then to see who can identify the person in the photo. Visit this page often. The next person we feature may be you!

Can you guess who this is?
