The owner of this photo will be visiting Tancook in June and he is very excited to see the island again. (Here is a hint…His last visit was when he was 10 years old in 1964.)
Back row – L – R Sheila Cross, Lillian Cross, Faith Cross, Eleanor Baker, Diane Cross
Front row – L – R Shirley Cross and Nancy Cross
The boy on the stairs is Robert Sheppard and his mom is the lady on the far left, Art Sheppard’s wife Neicey.
One of the boys in this photo would be celebrating a birthday on this date. There are very few photos of this boy other than this one taken in the early 1940s. We can name all of the boys in this photo. Can you?
Here’s an oldie. Can you guess who these children are. Note also the woman in the background. Bonus points for knowing where this house was/is.
From Linda Bernice Veinot Poole: This is my photo, it is my mother on the right, Bernice Mason Veniot, Her little brother in the middle, Carl Mason, and her sister on the left,Olive Mason Pearl. That is my great grandmother coming around the house, Naomi Baker Mason known to me as “Gomie Mason’, mother to Ferdinand Mason. My grandmother Stella Cross Mason took this picture and told me who they were.
From Peggy Langille: I was born in this house. My room was the top right window. It was my grandfather’s house (Thomas Heisler) and it was situated where our Post Office now stands. Behind the walking lady is the barn roof.
This week we have a challenge for you. This photo was taken 60 years ago in an island home. Can you guess who this is?
Answer: The lady in the picture is Naomi Mason. She was the mother of Hilda Cross (Hilda was Barry’s grandmother). Naomi’s son, Ferdinand Mason and wife Stella, went on to live in and own the house. Ferdy’s and Stella’s sons all made homes on the island, one being Carl who owned Lucy’s house. Their daughter, Olive Pearl, was Bev’s mom. Naomi lived in the house above Lucy, now owned by Donna Nebenzahl.
