Open Hooking Day – What a Success!
The first Tancook Island Open Hooking Day was a resounding success. While we had an inkling that we would have a good turnout, we were more than a little surprised and extremely pleased when more than 100 fiber artists spent April 28 at the Rec Centre rug hooking, knitting, quilting and even chair caning. Participants came from all over Nova Scotia and were joined by local residents with a shared interest in some form of fibre art.
We are grateful to the Rec Centre volunteers who made the day possible and enjoyable. Thanks also to Rosa and Bonny who led an island walk with several of the participants.
With the overwhelming success of this day of camaraderie and sharing, stay tuned for future events!
Lucy and Hetty.
A warm welcome sign by Hillary and Rhiannon. Verta at work. Martha demonstrates caning. Another delicious cake from Island Sweets. Talented Dennis. Always a teacher. Sheila’s beautiful colours. So many different techniques. Ian and Emily will give Sheila’s mat a new home. Ian gets a knitting lesson. Almost finished. Taking a break from the kitchen. A few locally hooked mats. Over 100 participants!
