Born March 25, 1946 on Tancook Island, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2020 in Fisherman’s Memorial Hospital, at the age of 73.

Burnel was raised on Tancook Island and worked as a fisherman for most of his years and enjoyed working on vehicles. Burnel moved to Chester Grant with his family in the 70’s, and was always a very kind gentle man, who was well-loved by his family and friends. Burnel is survived by his mother, Madeline Stevens (John); his wife, JoAnn (Slaunwhite) Hutt; sons, Corey, Chester; and Adam, Chester Grant; and grandson, Cameron, Toronto; brothers, Jack (Eldred) (Diana), Shelburne; Glen (Kenneth) (Lois), Chester Basin; and Elvis, Chester Basin.

Burnel was predeceased by his father, George; brother, Leslie; sister, Jane; and granddaughter, Hallee Jo. Burnel wished to donate his remains to science at Dalhousie University. Celebration of Life to be determined at a later date. Donations can be made to his wife JoAnn Hutt to assist her at this difficult time or a charity of your choice.
