
This photo (taken by George Bellerose in 1973) depicts early mackerel trapping technology. Mackerel is unloaded, dip net by dip net into a barrel that is hauled from boat to fish boxes on the wharf. Boxes were then brought into the Granville Gates plant in Blandford for processing.
